Messages

Chat before and after every booking

Surrounders has a private chat between each customer and professional: you can write before booking with Message this Pro, and each booking request and its confirmation show in the same chat.

You can send photos and your location, reply to a message and react to it, and messages are checked automatically to keep scams out.

One chat per person

What can you do in a chat?

One private chat between each customer and each professional, before and after every booking.

  • Ask before you book

Message this Pro is on every service. Signed out, you sign in first and land in the chat.

  • Photos

Attach image sends a photo from your phone or computer, ready to open full screen.

  • Your location

Share location sends a saved address or where you are now, as a small map.

  • Every booking keeps its chat

A booking request and its confirmation appear in the same chat as short notes.

  • Replies and reactions

Reply to one message, react with one of five reactions, or copy it.

  • Read, typing, online

Two blue ticks when your message is read, dots while they type, a green dot when they are online.

  • Notifications

A push and a count on Messages for every new message, never its words.

  • Checked for scams

Every message is checked automatically when it is sent.

Photos and location

How do you send a photo or where you are?

Two buttons beside the message box: the picture for a photo, the pin for a place.

Share location

Pick one of your saved addresses, or Current location. The other person sees a small map with the place, and a tap opens it in Google Maps.

Attach image

Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP picture: your phone makes it smaller first and it is sent at once. Tap a photo in the chat to see it full screen.

Booking notes

Does the chat show your bookings?

Yes. A booking request and its confirmation appear in the chat as short notes, and so do group spots and weekly requests. Each note is in the reader's own language, and a tap opens the booking.

A change of time or a cancellation comes as a notification instead.

Replies, reactions, read ticks

Can you reply to one message?

Yes. Hold a message, or swipe it to the right, to reply; holding it also gives five reactions and Copy. On a computer, a double click opens the reactions.

One grey tick means sent and two blue ticks mean read. Three dots mean they are typing, and a green dot means they are online.

Notifications

Will you know when a message arrives?

Yes. A new message sends a push and shows in Notifications, with a count on Messages. The notification says who wrote, never what they wrote.

Turn pushes on or off in Settings, under Notifications. During quiet hours, 21:00 to 08:00 to start, no message push is sent; the message waits in your chats.

Safe by design

How does Surrounders keep scams out of chats?

Every message is checked automatically when it is sent, and one being checked shows Being checked to its sender. A new account can start only a few new chats a day.

The chat's menu (the three dots) has Block user and Report this conversation; Delete conversation is on the chat list. Surrounders never asks anybody to pay online.

Ask first, then book.
