Why book through a platform instead of directly with the pro?

Updated 2026-08-16

Booking through Surrounders costs nothing extra - the platform takes no fees from either side - so the real question is what you get for the same money. The answer: a calendar that manages itself, reminders for both of you, reviews from real bookings when you need a new pro, and every arrangement in one place instead of scattered across five chat apps.

Concretely, a platform booking gives you:

  • A confirmed slot, not a plan. You request a time from the pro's live availability; they confirm; it lands in both calendars. Requests nobody answers expire after 48 hours instead of leaving you guessing.
  • Reminders. Both sides get them, configurable from 10 minutes to 1 day before. Most no-shows are not bad faith, they are forgotten appointments.
  • Recurring schedules. A weekly cleaner or twice-weekly training set up once, up to 6 months ahead, with a different time per day if you need it. Pause it for holidays, resume after.
  • A record. Chat history with photos, what you agreed, when you last booked, one tap to book again.
  • Reviews when it matters. The day your cleaner moves away, you are choosing a stranger again - and reviews tied to completed bookings beat asking around.

The honest part: direct is sometimes fine. Once you and a pro trust each other, a standing arrangement by message works, and nothing stops you - Surrounders holds neither side hostage, and payment was always direct anyway. Most people who try the calendar stay for a simpler reason: when the schedule, the reminders, and the history cost nothing, doing it manually is just more work.
