How do I change my name, photo, or phone?

Your name, photo, and phone number all live in one place: open Settings and go to your profile. Edit the field you want, save, and the change applies immediately across the platform. Photos can be uploaded in 3 formats: JPEG, PNG, or WebP. There is no approval queue and no waiting period.

A quick note on who sees what. Your name and photo appear to people you actually interact with, such as pros you book or message. Your phone number is different: it is never shown to other users at all. It sits in your own settings and stays there, so updating it changes nothing about your visibility.

The one profile field you cannot edit yourself is your email address - that currently requires writing to support. Everything else is yours to change as often as you like.

If a new photo refuses to upload, check the format first. JPEG, PNG, and WebP work; other formats do not. A clear, recent photo helps pros recognize returning customers, and if you also work as a pro, it is the face customers see on your professional profile, so it is worth getting right.

How do I change the language?

Surrounders speaks 3 languages: English, Greek, and Russian. To switch, open Settings and pick your language. The choice saves to your account rather than your device, so it follows you everywhere - log in on a new phone or browser and the interface is already in your language.

Because the setting is tied to your account, make the change while logged in. That is what makes it stick. If you ever notice the language flipping back, this is almost always the cause: the choice was made somewhere it could not be saved to the account.

The language setting covers more than menus and buttons. Notifications arrive in your language, and the system messages that appear in chat for booking events (confirmed, rescheduled, cancelled) are rendered in each participant's own language - you can read yours in Russian while the pro reads theirs in English.

One thing the setting does not translate is other people. Listings, messages, and reviews appear as their authors wrote them. If you want a pro you can talk to comfortably, use the "speaks my language" filter in search - pros list 1 to 3 languages on their profiles, and in Limassol both English and Russian speakers are easy to find.

How do I change my password?

There is no password to change. Surrounders signs you in with a 6-digit code sent to your email address each time - there is no password field anywhere, and no password section in Settings.

What that means in practice: the thing to keep safe is your email inbox, because whoever can read it can sign in as you. Two habits cover it - a strong, unique password on the email account itself, and two-factor authentication there if your provider offers it. Google sign-in, if you use it, is governed by your Google account's own security.

If anything about your account looks unfamiliar, the check that still matters is your active sessions. Settings lists every device where your account is signed in, and each can be signed out individually - or all at once with "Log out everywhere". Ending a session removes the access; keeping your inbox secure removes the way back in.

Trouble signing in with a code is covered in the related answer.

Can I change my account email?

No, not from within the app today. The email address you signed up with is the one profile field you cannot edit yourself. If you need it changed - an old work address, a mailbox you are retiring - write to support@surrounders.com and the support team will help with the change directly.

When you write, include your current account email and the address you want to move to. Since your email is effectively your identity on the platform, expect support to confirm the request really comes from you before changing anything.

Everything else about your profile is self-service: name, photo, and phone are all editable in Settings, and changes apply immediately.

Why the email matters enough to get this right: it is your login - the 6-digit sign-in code goes there - and where email notifications about bookings and messages arrive. If you are losing access to an old mailbox, contact support before the old address goes dark - a working email on file is what makes account recovery straightforward rather than painful.

In-app email change is the kind of feature that may arrive later, but this page describes what exists now, and right now the honest answer is: not yet, support handles it.

How do I see where I'm logged in?

Settings shows a list of your active sessions - every device and browser where your account is currently logged in. Each entry has its own sign-out control, so you can end the session on a laptop you left at the office without touching the phone in your hand. "Log out everywhere" ends all of them at once, this one included.

The list earns its keep in a few situations:

  • You logged in on a friend's phone or a shared computer and forgot to log out. Find that session and end it remotely.
  • Your device was lost or stolen. Revoke its session so whoever holds it is out of your account.
  • Something feels off. A session you do not recognize is a signal to act, not to shrug at.

If you do spot anything unfamiliar, sign out the session you do not recognize - and, since your email is now the key to your account, make sure the email account itself is secure. Ending the session removes the access; a secure inbox removes the way back in.

Separately from anything you do, a session lasts 90 days and is extended every time you use Surrounders, so a device you open now and then stays signed in, and one you have not touched for three months asks for a code again. That occasional request is normal behavior, not a problem with your account.

How do I delete my account?

Account deletion lives in the Privacy section at the bottom of your Profile - reach it through the round avatar button at top right, then Profile. To confirm, you type the word DELETE - a deliberate speed bump, because the action is irreversible. Once confirmed, your personal data is deleted or anonymized, and you are logged out on every device at once. There is no undo, no grace period, and no restore option, so treat it as final because it is.

Before you press the button, two things are worth 5 minutes of your time:

  1. Download your data. The Privacy section of your Profile offers an export of your bookings, reviews, sent messages, addresses, and preferences. After deletion there is nothing left to export.
  2. Be sure deletion is what you want. There is no temporary deactivation on Surrounders - but if your actual goal is just quiet, every notification type can be switched off in Settings, and an unused account costs nothing.

Upcoming bookings end with the account. Every booking still ahead of you, whether you are the customer or the pro, is cancelled, and so is every weekly booking. The other person is told at once, so nobody turns up to an appointment that will not happen. Past bookings stay in the other person's history.

What happens to your traces: reviews you wrote remain on the platform but anonymized, with your name removed. This keeps pros' review histories honest for future customers without keeping your identity attached.

Deletion covers your whole account. If you use it as both a customer and a pro, both sides go together - there is one account underneath. Should anything about the process not work as described, privacy@surrounders.com is the right address.

Can I temporarily deactivate my account?

No. Surrounders has no temporary deactivation or account freezing. Your two options are deleting the account permanently or simply not using it. The second option is easier than it sounds: an unused account costs nothing and demands nothing - there are no fees of any kind, and every notification can be switched off, so it can sit quietly for months.

To make an account fully silent before stepping away, open Settings and turn off notifications. The toggles are per type (bookings, messages, reviews, reminders, social, system) and per channel (in-app, push, email), so you can go completely dark or leave just one thread open - say, email for booking events only, in case an old pro writes to you.

If you are a pro taking a break, there is a purpose-built middle ground: pause your listings. A paused listing takes no new bookings but keeps your profile, reviews, and history intact, and you can unpause the moment you are back. That is the closest thing to "deactivation" on the platform, and for pros it covers the common case - holidays.

Reserve deletion for when you genuinely want out: it is irreversible, your data is deleted or anonymized, and there is no restore. If that is your choice, download your data first, because afterwards there is nothing left to download.

How do I switch to dark mode?

Open Settings and choose your theme. There are 3 options: light, dark, and system. Light and dark lock the interface to that look no matter what your device is doing. System hands the decision to your phone or computer, so Surrounders goes dark when your device does in the evening and returns to light in the morning.

Which to pick is genuinely a matter of taste, but a few practical notes:

  • System is the low-maintenance choice. If your phone already switches appearance on a schedule, the app simply keeps up, and you never think about it again.
  • Dark is easier on the eyes when checking tomorrow's bookings in bed, and on many phone screens it uses a little less battery.
  • Light tends to read better outdoors in bright Cyprus sun, which matters if you are a pro checking your calendar between sessions.

The setting lives alongside your language choice in Settings, and switching is instant and free to undo - there is no wrong answer, and no way to break anything by trying all three. If the app's appearance ever seems out of sync with your device, check that the theme is set to system rather than a fixed choice.

I forgot my password - how do I reset it?

There is nothing to reset. Surrounders has no passwords: you enter your email on the login page, we send a 6-digit code to that address, and typing it signs you in.

So if you came here with a password in mind, the whole procedure is now:

  1. Open the login page and enter the email you signed up with.
  2. Open that inbox; the subject line of our email starts with the six digits.
  3. Type the code. You are in.

The code lasts 10 minutes and five attempts; "Resend code" appears after 60 seconds if the email is slow. If you signed up with Google, the Google button still works and skips the code.

If the code never arrives, the related answer walks through the causes - almost always a typo in the address or a spam folder.
